Meet Kate Warren

I am the daughter of generations of small business owners. My grandfather owned an apple orchard, my mom owned a country store, and my dad and grandmother run a business that provides home care for older adults. Growing up with these role models taught me from a young age the value of hard work, creativity, and doing work that I believe in. These are values that I carry with me into public service, and I continue to look for ways to support and uplift small businesses and residents in our Old Brooklyn community.

I have dedicated my career to fighting poverty in Cleveland. One of my first jobs after college was working with homeless men, women, and children at Laura’s Home and The City Mission. I learned so much about the complex challenges facing people who are struggling in Cleveland. My desire to address those root causes of poverty led me to my current work, as a research fellow at The Center for Community Solutions, where I have advocated for improved health and social conditions in Cleveland for the past six years.

I am a community leader in Old Brooklyn and throughout Cleveland. Service and giving back to the community is part of my DNA. I have served on the Board of Directors at the Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation, where I helped lead work to make our Old Brooklyn neighborhood more healthy and more equitable. I worked with a coalition of Democratic clubs to organize “Get Out the Vote” efforts in Ward 13 during the 2020 General Election. I was active on the city’s Complete Count Committee, where I worked to make sure everyone in Cleveland was counted in the 2020 Census. Through my involvement in Data Days CLE, I have long been an advocate for more transparent government data and information. For years, I have mentored teens and young adults through nonprofits and churches in the community.

I love experiencing all Old Brooklyn has to offer. Whether I’m riding my bike down the Treadway Creek hill to the Towpath, shopping for veggies and baked goods at the Saturday morning farmer’s market, or enjoying lunch at one of Old Brooklyn’s many delicious restaurants, I am always out and about in the community. I love to support our local businesses and enjoy getting to know neighbors along the way!

I would love to get to know you, too! Reach out at
